Minor Tidal Flooding, Rain, & Wind Today

Minor Tidal Flooding is expected with this afternoon’s high tide courtesy of Florence.

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY is in effect since shallow flooding can be expected for areas near the waterfront or shoreline. So, if you live in an area prone to tidal flooding, be on guard for rising water around early afternoon. Remember to Never drive over a flooded roadway.  High tide will be within the 2PM hour, and tidal flooding is possible about an hour on either side of the high tide time.

Minor Flooding is expected for most areas, but near Yorktown…”Near Moderate” tidal flooding is expected.  We can credit the onshore prevailing wind flow wrapping around Florence for this tidal flood risk.

As the effects from Florence (although minor) continue, winds will average between 15 mph – 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph possible (especially near the immediate coast).

Periods of rain from Florence’s outer rainbands will continue to slide across our area. So, expect passing showers (mainly light – moderate) throughout the day.  Brief heavier downpours are also possible. Up to 1″ of rainfall is possible today.

More of the same is expected for tomorrow with slightly less rain coverage on Monday.  A cold front will capture the remnant moisture from Florence by Tuesday, and it’ll swing some across our area as the front crosses.  In the wake of the front, we FINALLY get days of sunshine/lower humidity/and comfy temps starting Wednesday!
