An upper level ridge of High Pressure will move over our area today and hang around until Midweek. This feature is affiliated with sinking air that’ll compress and warm up…helping to bake our area for the next few days.
There will also be a surface high pressure area just offshore of the Mid-Atlantic Coast, and a warm southwesterly flow wrapping around that will help enhance our hot & muggy pattern.
So, afternoon highs will be 5°-10° above average with low 90s for the next several days. When you factor in the humidity, it’ll FEEL like it’s near 100° today …and low 100s Tuesday – Thursday. So, find ways to stay cool!
The previously mentioned upper level High will also help suppress widespread rain development, but the heat of the day could help form a spotty shower. Chance of receiving rain is only 10% (so, count yourself as lucky IF you catch a brief shower). A cold front crosses by Friday, and it’ll bring seasonable Mid 80s to our area by the weekend. It’ll also bring a better chance for rain as we wrap up the workweek and enter into the weekend.
