A HEAT ADVISORY has been issued for most of the Tidewater for Tuesday from 11AM – 8PM. A Heat Advisory means that the humidity and heat combined will lead to it “feeling” dangerously hot outside…to the point that it could make you sick.
Heat indices will get above 100° (as high as 108° in some areas), and this could lead to heat illnesses like heat cramps, heat exhaustion, or heat stroke. Make sure to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during the heat of the day, enjoy as much A/C as you can, check on the elderly to make sure they have proper working A/C, and keep pets inside during the heat of the afternoon. Also, make sure to triple check your car to make sure you’re not leaving kids or pets in the car as you get out.
Thankfully, a cold front will cross our area on Tuesday evening…leading to higher rain chances and eventually more tolerable air by the end of the workweek. Best chance for showers (and some storms) will be after 4PM. The chance for showers and storms will linger through the evening as the front stalls into Wednesday.
However, there is a small (marginal) risk for severe storms on Tuesday late afternoon & evening. Damaging wind is a primary risk (and locally heavy rain is also expected).
