After 3 Consecutive days ( Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) with highs just shy of 90°, today kicks-off a cooler trend for a little while. It’ll feel more like Spring with 70s this weekend, but next week it’ll actually be cooler than average with 60s (avg. highs this time of year should be in the low 70s).
The pattern will change behind an area of low pressure that’s currently well to our west, but it’s on the move towards us. Notice the cold front across the Tidewater…this feature will lead to the cooler 70s today as most of Hampton Roads will eventually get a northerly wind behind the front as it moves towards/parks near the NC border later today(south of it 80s continue).
It could also trigger some isolated showers, but I’m talking very spotty. Otherwise, just a cloudier day.
Tomorrow brings a better chance for showers as the previously mentioned Low moves into our area, plus some moisture from a disturbance near the Bahamas will move just offshore of our area (possibly bringing more rain our way). So, carry the umbrella on Sunday for sure (but it won’t be a wash-out). Once this system moves away, 60s will dominate the start of next week until the winds shift back from the South (which will happen by Thursday). Highs will be back around 80° by Friday.
Happy Cinco De Mayo & Derby Day!
