Check out the highs from today (see graphic below). We normally don’t experience our warmest temps in the morning, but that’s the case today. The warmest temps were just after Midnight.
Temperatures have been falling since this morning….with temps only in the upper 30s by 5PM this afternoon.
We can blame a cold front for the drastic change in the pattern. It’s crossing our area through the morning, and much colder air will filter in behind it.
Tonight, temps will fall down into the 20s, but it will “feel” much colder due to N winds blowing 10-20mph….leading to wind chill values in the teens tonight thru the start of your Sunday.
By Sunday afternoon, temperatures will struggle to hit 30 degrees. So, we go from 70s on Friday…to highs barely at 30° within 48 hours!
The colder weather will stick around through Dr. MLK Day, but the holiday brings lots of sunshine. Temperatures will warm back up to around average (upper 40s) by Tuesday, but another cold front will be moving towards our area. This front will bring a chance for showers…SNOW showers by Wednesday.
For now, it looks like the best chance for snow will be the 1st half of the day on Wednesday…but this remains very preliminary. The timing could very well change, and it’s too early to call for any accumulations at this time. We’ll continue to monitor this system over the next couple of days. Meteorologist Ashley Baylor will lead you through your forecast this evening on WAVY NEWS 10 and on FOX43. Tune-in for the latest updates.
