It was a soggy mess that folks had to slog through to get to work this morning. We had on-and-off rain showers during the overnight until early this morning. Then some bands of heavy showers moved up from the south.
This is all from a weak area of low pressure that is moving north through the region today.
The low itself is actually very weak. However, it is wrapped in a lot of moisture. We’ll have occasional rain showers through midday. Then the showers will break up a little more by the afternoon. The showers should be very spotty by the late afternoon into the evening. Temperatures are the silver lining today. (Pun intended). We started off in the low 50s. We’ll end up near 60 or in the low 60s this afternoon. Winds will be out of the southeast for a while. Then they will be out of the southwest at 10-15mph. It’s possible that the sun will pop out a bit later today, but I wouldn’t bet on it. (Save that for March Madness).
We have picked up about a quarter to a half an inch of rain so far. We’ll probably see another quarter to a half an inch. A little more in some of the downpours.
Tomorrow we’ll be dry for most of the day. There will be an upper level low overhead, but the surface low will move into the northeast states, and it will become a strong system up there. Locally, we will have a strong westerly breeze. We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds. Isolated showers will be possible late in the day as a second cold front moves through. High temps will be in the 60s. Other than the strong breeze, most of the day should be pretty nice.
The weekend is still looking good. Skies will be mostly sunny. Highs will be in the upper 50s on Saturday. We’ll be in the low-mid 60s on Sunday. (Very nice!) We’ll have a big warmup on Monday ahead of a cold front. High temps will be near 70. We’ll have some rain late in the day. Rain will pick up as the front moves in Monday night. Then it will drop to the south on Tuesday. Rain will end early. Temps will drop sharply. High temps on Tuesday are forecast to only reach the upper 40s. It’s usually tough to have highs in the 40s in late March (though it’s not unheard of). So as we get closer I would bet that we’ll be more in the low 50s or near 50. We’ll see. Untill then…good luck slogging through the rain.
