Even though Labor Day weekend is considered the “unofficial end of summer”..pffftt don’t tell that to Mother Nature! Temperatures are expected to remain above average and the humidity will be rather high. No real relief in sight for the next seven days.
It will be a little cooler today. Instead of highs in the mid-90s, we’ll see the mercury top out in the mid to upper-80s. As I mentioned, no real relief here considering dewpoints will still be in the 70s. We’ll be tracking partly sunny skies with pop-up showers and storms after 3 PM.
Saturday will pretty much be a rinse and repeat forecast – partial sunshine with spotty afternoon showers and storms.
I’ve had to introduce a slight chance of an isolated shower or two into the forecast for Sunday now. Not a huge deal, but you might want to be aware if you have outdoor plans.
Looks like it’ll be nice and dry for Labor Day and the first day of school! As the kids head back, expect lots of sunshine with highs near 90°.
A quick check of the tropics:
We are watching Potential Tropical Cyclone SIX coming off the coast of Africa. This could potentially become Tropical Storm Florence sometime today. (Cue the Florence Henderson memes..) At this point, the latest forecast shows this system maintaining tropical storm strength through the weekend, but I wouldn’t rule out this becoming a Category 1 hurricane before the weekend is over. If it doesn’t, will certainly gain hurricane strength early next week. This should just be a fish storm, but we’ll be watching closely over the next week.
