Over the weekend we had lots of heavy rain between Elizabeth City over to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. There was some flooding down there that may carry over into today. This was all south of a stationary front. Today the front is slowly lifting north as a warm front, and the rain showers are moving up with it.
The front will be a focus for heavy downpours and a few thunderstorms. Localized flooding will be possible.
The models hint at the showers tapering off a little during the late afternoon into the evening. So the evening commute should not be as bad. High temps will be in the upper 70s to low 80s, but it will be muggy.
Tomorrow the front will be to our north. Typically when that happens we tend to get a lower chance for rain. However, I think there’s enough deep moisture in place that we’ll still have a decent chance for showers (60%). Showers should become more scattered from Wednesday onward. Hopefully, we’ll have a lot more breaks between the rain.
Between today and tomorrow we will have a solid 1-2″ across the region with some areas possibly getting 3″ or more. 4″??? Possibly.
Stay tuned for updates!
