We had some scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms last night.
They dropped in from Northern Virginia into our region. Then they weakened in the early morning. A cool front is slowly moving into the region, but it is taking its sweet time.
The front will slowly sink south today. This will help to drop our afternoon temperatures. Thank goodness! Yesterday was rough. Today, highs will be in the upper 70s with a few 80s inland and south. Winds will turn out of the northeast at 5-15mph. There will be a few higher gusts. Be careful boaters! The wind isn’t too strong as I write this, but it will pick up later this morning thorugh the afternoon We may have some gusts above 20mph on the water.
We’ll have some scattered showers return this afternoon, but they won’t be widespread. They will taper off this evening.
Tomorrow we’ll have a few showers in the region with a mix of sun and clouds. The front will be to our south. So high temps will be cool again. They’ll be in the upper 70s. We’ll have an easterly breeze. The front will kick back north as a warm front by Tuesday night. So on Wednesday high temps will jump to the low 90s. It will feel like the mid-upper 90s with the heat index. Skies will be partly cloudy. There may be some isolated showers or storms popping up. We’ll see steady weather from Thursday into the weekend. High temps will be in the 80s. It will be warm and humid. There may be a couple of weak fronts near or in the region. I only see some isolated showers on a couple of days with possibly a little better chance for showers at night. We’ll have to take it one day at a time.
By the way. Here are some of the 24 hour rain totals in the region. (Mostly from last night).
