The City of Portsmouth to address opioid epidemic
Portsmouth city leaders and health officials say they want to hear from citizens about the opioid epidemic.
Old Dominion University has received approval to set up a School of Supply Chain, Logistics and Maritime Operations, a move the university said would enhance its coordination of maritime-related programming and research while allowing it to "optimize regional economic development in the supply chain and maritime industry."
Two people — Isaiah K. Roberson, 26, of Petersburg and Gavin M. Kearney, 21, of Suffolk, have been each charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm, while Shanasia A. Lyles, 19, of Portsmouth, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact.
The Virginia Beach Police Department has been awarded an $8 million Defense Community Infrastructure Program grant to make capital improvements to its Creeds Law Enforcement Training Facility, which will increase capacity, training capabilities and mission readiness for officers as well as military stationed at Naval Air Station Oceana and Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, among others.
