PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – In the 1920’s, African-American writers, artists, musicians and thinkers changed American culture during a period known as the Harlem Renaissance. It was taking place in large cities across the country, but it trickled down to small cities like Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
To remember that special time in American history, all this month, there’s a Harlem Renaissance art contest at the Arts of the Albemarle. We find out more with Dr. Leon Pringle in this week’s Reck on the Road.
The art competition awards ceremony is February 22. Click here for more information.
