Sunday was very warm for this time of year. We topped off in the 60s over most of the area. It was nice, but the clouds thickened up during the afternoon. The average high is 49 degrees. Today, we won’t be quite as warm, but it will still be well above average. High temps will aim for the upper 50s. The reason for the slight cool down is because of an area of low pressure that has formed just offshore.
This is giving us a light northerly breeze today. Plus, it has produced a lot of clouds over the region. We also had quite a bit of rain over North Carolina this morning, but there hasn’t been much over southeast Virginia. Today the low will slowly move farther offshore. High pressure will edge in from the west. This should produce some clearing this afternoon. By tomorrow, the high pressure system will move east. We’ll have lots of sun with a southerly breeze. Temps will rise to the upper 60s with mostly sunny skies. Nice!
We’ll have a brief cooldown on Wednesday with highs near 60. We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds with some isolated showers. A strong warm front will lift north of the region Thursday into Friday. High temps will be solidly in the 70s. One model suggests we’ll hit 80 degrees on one of the days. We’ll see. Either way, this will probably tie or break the current records. They are in the mid 70s for Thursday and Friday. We’ll have a huge cool down by next Saturday. The timing may change. So stay tuned for updates.
