Yesterday was a part of the temperature roller coaster that we are currently riding. We had highs in the 60s before cooling down during the late afternoon. Since then a cold front has passed to our south, and the breeze has picked up out of the northeast.
We’ll be much cooler today with high temps in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees. These are actually close to the average, but it will be a big drop from yesterday. So it will feel much colder. However, there is a lot of warmth building over the central U.S. today.
By tonight the front will shift back northeast as a warm front. We’ll have some scattered rain showers after midnight. Low temps will be near 40 degrees. A few showers will linger into tomorrow morning, but then we’ll clear out through the day. We’ll have a southwest breeze. So high temps will bounce up to the mid 60s, and one model suggested we’ll even get close to 70. Either way it will be very warm for early to mid January. Don’t worry…colder air is coming back. (And eventually so will Game of Thrones…)
A cold front will drop high temperatures to the low-mid 50s Wednesday with fair skies. Then we’ll keep dropping to the mid 40s on Thursday. We’ll have low 40s on Friday. We’ll be dry and colder both days. Low temps will finally return to the 20s by Friday morning.
Now…Next weekend could be a little interesting. The models are suggesting that we’ll have an area of low pressure moving through the region. This time it will be able to tap into some colder air. Now it’s too early for specific details, but let’s just say that we could see at least a wintry mix over parts of the region, if not a little snow. For now the European is colder and snowier than the other models, but again….it’s still way too early for any specific details. Stay tuned for updates. I’ll be updating you on that through the week.
