Today is going to be a great weather day. It seems like we often skip Spring and go straight from Winter to Summer. So enjoy the nice Spring days when you can. Today, we have high pressure edging east off the coast. There is a southwest wind developing on the back side.
This is going to pump in some nice warm temperatures over the next couple of days. High temps today will rise to the low-mid 70s. It will probably be a little cooler on the Eastern Shore. This is due to the bay temperatures in the low 50s. Ocean temps are only in the upper 40s to low 50s. So keep that in mind if you are going to do some boating or kayaking. The water is still cold.
Tomorrow, the high pressure zone will still be offshore. We’ll have a south/southwesterly breeze. Humidity will rise slightly, but it will only be enough to give us partly cloudy skies. High temps will be in the mid-upper 70s.
The colder air will move in on Sunday in the form of a cold front. At this point, it looks like it will move in by the mid-morning. Temperatures will rise to the mid (or low) 60s. However, they may fall to the 50s during the afternoon. Rain showers will increase through the day. Rain is likely by late Sunday afternoon. Then we’ll dry out on Monday. High temps will be knocked down to the low 50s.
Between Tuesday and Wednesday there will be an area of low pressure forming somewhere near the east coast. This is forecast to strengthen near our region (either offshore or just inland) on Tuesday.
Then it is forecast to strengthen even more and move to the northeast. Regardless, of the track we will likely get some rain showers with this system Tuesday into early Wednesday. However, the track of the low will determine how much wind we get. The models do vary on this part, but they should come together over the weekend. The European model actually lingers the low for about 3-4 days, but fairly far offshore. I’d say for now expect at least some rain and a strong coastal breeze.
Stay tuned to WAVY TV and WAVY.com for the developing details. Until then….enjoy the weekend and the nice weather.
