Camp Katan – (Hebrew for “small”)
2 years – Rising Kindergarteners
Summer camp is more than just a place where children come to play when school is out. Katan campers will experience new themes and activities every week, including dress up days, performances, and special events. Our schedule includes a rest period for 2- and 3-year-old campers, allowing campers to nap or enjoy quiet activities such as reading or working on puzzles. During this time, 4-year-olds and rising kindergarteners get an extra swim period.
Camp Gadol – (Hebrew for “Big”)
Rising 1st – 6th graders
Campers will enjoy our dynamic program that allows every child to explore their own interests and try new activities within a safe camp atmosphere. Each week, campers choose an activity to explore. Options include music or video creation, canvas painting and more! Plus all campers will participate in a variety of activities including sports, swimming, music, art, dance, and drama.
Rising 7th and 8th Graders
Teen Camp is about having fun and giving back. Campers will participate in exciting off-campus activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking, and more. Teen campers also have the opportunity to plan their own special projects and give back to the community through various volunteer activities. The combination of recreational activities and community service projects contribute to a memorable and meaningful summer camp.
Extend Your Adventure at Last Blast!
Rising Kindergarteners – Teens
The adventure continues with an extra two weeks of fun! In this Camp JCC add-on, campers will play in our outdoor waterpark, and engage in themed programming such as cooking lessons. Last Blast runs Monday through Friday, 7:30 am – 6:00 pm in The Zone at the JCC. Campers should bring lunch, sunscreen, a bathing suit, and a towel. Campers are provided a daily snack.
(Rising 9th and 10th Graders)
Our Counselor-in-Training program allows teens to gain leadership skills and experience working with children, while enjoying the traditional camp experience. CITs will receive training that emphasizes life skills such as teamwork, conflict resolution, and self-confidence. CITs will implement special camp activities throughout the summer, preparing them for future roles at camp, school or in the community. This is a junior leadership position that requires an interview and offers a modest stipend. For more information, contact Dave Flagler at 757-452-3182. Limited space available.
Camp JCC strives to provide every child with the opportunity to enjoy our summer camp programs. The Yachad program consists of specially trained camp staff who are able to provide campers with accommodations and supports for a variety of physical, emotional, intellectual, and developmental needs. For more information and to help determine if our summer camp is the right fit for your child, please call Michelle Fenley, LCSW, at 757.459.4640. If interested, a required one-on-one meeting will be scheduled to allow us to learn more about your child’s strengths while exploring accommodations and supports that may benefit them during the camp day. Availability in the program is limited.
