WILLIAMSBURG (WAVY) – No player in Jamestown High School history has found the back of the net more than Michael Meese.
Only a junior, Meese has set the single-season mark for goals in a season (50). Back in April, the College of William & Mary commit broke the school record for goals in a single game (8). “He’s just a different-level talent, different level striker,” said Jamestown head coach Bob O’Brien.
Meese broke the previous record (46) set by Jeff Wolons in 2016. “I’ve been trying to break that ever since I was a freshman,” said Meese. “So, to finally get it was a goal. So much stress went off my back.”
Meese has scored more than 100 goals in his career, but there’s one he’s still after. “I want to win the state championship for sure,” he said.
“All the records matter, but not as much as winning the state championship.”
