WILLIAMSBURG (WAVY) – Bronte Law began the day tied for the lead (-13) with Nasa Hataoka from Japan, but quickly established that Sunday at Kingsmill Resort was her time. With birdies on the third, fourth, seventh, and eighth holes, the 24-year old from England charged ahead of Hataoka and held off a charging Madelene Sagstrom to win the Pure Silk Championship, and her first career victory on the LPGA Tour.
Sagstrom from Sweden shot a final-round 66, and barely missed a short birdie putt on the 16th, which would have tied her for the lead alongside law at -16.
Law never flinched, and drained a 20-foot birdie putt on the 16th to give her a two-stroke cushion heading into the final two holes.
