Great Bridge tops Jamestown, returns to Class 4 state tournament

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Senior pitcher Alex Ziemke allowed only one run on three hits, and the Great Bridge offense came through when it needed to. The Wild Cats took down Jamestown 4-1 win in the Region 4A semifinals, and are headed back to the Class 4 state tournament after falling short of the tournament last season.

“It’s awesome; what we live for,” said Great Bridge head coach Ken Kellum. “Nothing better than this time of the year. You lose you go home, and that’s the way we like it.”

In the region championship game, Great Bridge will face Lafayette, which beat Grafton 5-3 in the other semifinal.
