Woman pleads guilty to robbery, carjacking charges in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A woman suspected of multiple crimes involving vehicles and senior citizens pleaded guilty to three charges on Wednesday.

Cathy Marie Chapman was arrested in King and Queen County in connection to alleged incidents in Gloucester and Newport News.

Authorities said in one instance Chapman took a senior citizen’s vehicle without permission and failed to return it. The Gloucester County Sheriff’s later recovered the vehicle.

Chapman pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of robbery and one count of carjacking. Several other charges against Chapman, including two counts of abduction, were withdrawn in Wednesday’s hearing.

She is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 14.
