NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A woman accused of ramming another woman’s SUV with her car during a confrontation outside a Newport News day care pleaded guilty to two charges.
Twenty-nine-year-old Marya Pearson pleaded guilty to child abuse and unlawful wounding. Prosecutors withdrew — or nolle prossed — charges of malicious wounding and vandalism against Pearson.
Pearson was charged following a confrontation with another woman in a parking lot off Warwick Boulevard in Newport News.
A woman told officers Pearson tried to get into her SUV and damaged the outside of it.
Pearson blocked the victim from leaving — and at some point, Pearson got into her vehicle and ran into the other woman’s SUV.
The victim’s 6-year-old daughter was in the car at the time. No one was hurt.
Pearson is scheduled to be sentenced March 29.
