CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake Police found a woman dead inside a burning car on Battlefield Blvd. in the Hickory section of the city early Friday morning.
According to a police spokesman, officers were called to the intersection of S. Battlefield Blvd. and Sandy Rd. around 1 a.m. after receiving reports of a car on fire in a ditch.
When fire crews put out the fire they found a woman dead inside the car. The woman was later identified as 24-year-old Ashley Holland, of Chesapeake.
South Battlefield Blvd. was closed for several hours while the Chesapeake Police crash reconstruction team investigated the accident. The road has since reopened according to dispatchers.
