ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) – A woman involved in a crash in Isle of Wight County Sunday evening has died.

Virginia State Police responded to the scene on Route 17 north of Route 661 around 6:35 p.m. Their investigation revealed that the driver of a Honda Civic made a right turn onto Route 17 from Sugar Hill Road, into the path of an oncoming Nissan Titan and the vehicles collided.

The driver of the Honda, 50-year-old Soud El Hassani, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash, and was transported to Regional Riverside Medical Center. She died from her injuries the next day.

Police say neither alcohol nor speed were a contributing factor in the crash.
