Woman charged with delivering drugs to Newport News inmate

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A woman is facing charges for allegedly trying to send drugs to an inmate in Newport News.

Police say the alleged incident happened Oct. 29. 

Jennifer Phillips is charged with two counts of delivering a Schedule III drug to an inmate. Police say Phillips and the inmate know each other.

According  to the Department of Justice, Scheduled III substances include narcotics that contain as much as 90 milligrams of codeine per dosage, and buprenorphine.                    

Non-narcotic Schedule III substances include benzphetamine (Didrex), phendimetrazine, ketamine, and anabolic steroids including Depo-Testosterone.
