WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — A woman has been charged after her two dogs allegedly attacked and seriously injured a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in the Colonial Heritage area on Oct. 12.

According to James City County police, the two dogs were running loose when they attacked the Spaniel, fracturing its ribs, collapsing at least one of its lungs, as well as some other injuries.

57-year-old Sandra Jane Ripley, the owner of the two dogs, was charged with violating a dangerous dog order and two counts of dog at large. Police say she was also given a summons for having a dangerous dog.

According to court records, Ripley was previously charged with having a dangerous dog and permitting a dog to roam back in April of 2017.

Ripley is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 9. Stay on WAVY.com for updates.
