Pothole season is in full effect this year!
Residents in Chesapeake are tired of the ongoing issue of potholes at the post office parking lot in Chesapeake on N. Battlefield Blvd.
I went with anchor/reporter Laura Caso to get the full story.
Charles Williams is a Chesapeake resident who says the potholes are dangerous for pedestrians and for cars. “It’s just dangerous all together,” said Williams. “This has gone on too long.”
Another resident, Cat Myhre, says she visits the post office every day for work and she avoids parking in the lot because there are too many holes.
“I park in the other parking lot so I don’t have to drive through the potholes,” said Myhre. “It’s dangerous and I think they should be fixed. I’m pretty sure everyone feels the same way I do.”
When we pulled up to the parking lot, we watched cars drive around at least three huge potholes on the ground. We got out of the car to ask people going in and coming out of the post office what they thought about the potholes.
Laura tried to ask one man what he thought and before she could even finish her sentence he said, “I didn’t see anything! I don’t know what happened!”
I thought that was very funny because she was just trying to ask him about the potholes.
Another man drove into the parking lot and yelled out the window, “I hope y’all doing a story about these potholes! I have something to say.”
I learned quickly that some people will want to talk to you and others will not.
According to Mike Fine with Louis B Fine Family, there’s been an ongoing dispute.
Dispute or not, residents want the potholes fixed now.
Although the story was simple, this was my favorite because the people made me laugh. I look forward to many more laughs here at WAVY.
