Wanted murder suspect from Maryland arrested after pursuit at Downtown Tunnel

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A murder suspect from Prince George County, Maryland was arrested after a vehicle pursuit that ended in the Downtown Tunnel in Portsmouth. 

Virginia State Police received a BOL (Be on the Lookout) from the Prince George’s County Police Department in Maryland of a person of interest wanted in a homicide investigation from September 2, 2018, who was thought to be traveling through Virginia.

Thirty-two-year-old Rodney Conyers was spotted on Route 58 in Suffolk. A traffic stop was initiated, but the suspect failed to stop and fled, initiating a vehicle pursuit through the cities of Suffolk and Portsmouth, and into the Downtown Tunnel, where Stephaun crashed, and was arrested.

Stephaun was taken to Norfolk General Hospital with minor injuries. He is in Virginia State Police custody and will be transferred back to Prince George’s County, Maryland. State Police are in the process of obtaining warrants for the pursuit and traffic crash.
