VSP: Driver fled from troopers with flat tires

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – When a Virginia State Trooper tried to pull over a driver on Interstate 64 East near Greenbrier Parkway Monday morning, he refused to stop.

The trooper initially tried to pull over the new Volkswagen Tiguan SUV for a speeding violation, but then determined the vehicle was listed as stolen.

According to State Police, the driver continued down I-64 East towards Battlefield Boulevard, but eventually had to stop when two tires went flat.

State Police took 18-year-old Reginald Butler into custody at the end of the chase. Two other people in the vehicle with him fled the scene and have not been caught.

Butler is facing charges for felony evade and elude, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and driving without a valid license.

There were no injuries reported.
