RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Animal Care and Control is asking the public for information after a dog was found shot to death outside a middle school.

RACC officers responded a call for a dead dog on the track at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School on Mosby Street on Monday.

Officers found a black and white female pit bull that had been shot in the head. The dog did not have a collar, tag or microchip.

“The photos of her body are too gruesome for public viewing so we will share her description with further detail,” RACC said.

The pit bull, who RACC has named Bella Doe, has a black body, white belly and chest. Both of her front legs have white stockings and her back legs have white toes. She weighed 45 pounds.

If anyone is missing their dog that matches the description of Bella Doe, heard any gunshots in the area, or has any other information is asked to contact Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.

“No information is too insignificant,” RACC said
