Virginia May 2 COVID-19 update: COVID-19 daily cases fall below 800

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia reported 761 new COVID-19 cases Sunday while the state positivity rate is at 4.6%.

Data from the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association shows the commonwealth still shows it has under 900 patients in the hospital with COVID-19, just like Saturday.

  • New deaths (+14, 10,791 total)
  • Current hospitalizations (-27 patients, 858 total)
  • Testing (4.7% 7-day average of positive tests)
  • Doses administered (6,354,388 total doses, 71,858 per day on average2,717,830 fully vaccinated, 45 % with at least one dose31.8% fully vaccinated)
  • Doses distributed (7,894,195 total), 80.5% of doses received have been administered
