A group of Virginia Beach residents is giving back to the men and women who protect their community.

Members of a Virginia Beach Police Scanners Facebook group came together to create “baskets of gratitude” for local police departments.

The volunteers spent a few days putting the baskets together, filling them with all sorts of snacks and goodies for the officers.

Then on Saturday, May 26, they dropped them off at each police precinct in the city. Some volunteers were also given the opportunity to meet those receiving the baskets.

Organizers say it was a way to say thanks to the people who keep their community safe.
