CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A man was killed Tuesday morning in an industrial accident at a business in Chesapeake, officials say.

Capt. Steve Bradley from the Chesapeake Fire Department said there was a report that someone had fallen just after 8 a.m. at United Rentals on Bainbridge Boulevard, just off S. Military Highway.

Officials said a 25-year-old man, identified as Shawn Spears, of Virginia Beach, had fallen through the skylight on the roof of an industrial building, hitting objects below.

Nightingale was called, but officials said Spears died at the scene. He was working as a temporary service employee for Allied Services, which was hired to work on United Rentals’ roof.

Chesapeake fire officials say OSHA is investigating the accident.
