VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach ranked number four on a list of 2018’s safest cities in America, according to the personal finance website WalletHub.
Columbia, Maryland, topped the list as the safest city in the survey, Richmond, Virginia, ranked No. 67, while St. Louis, Missouri, came in last at No. 182.
The survey concentrated on people’s feelings of physical safety, as well as other threats such as cyber security.
In order to determine the safest cities in which to live, WalletHub compared 182 cities — including the 150 most populated in the U.S.
The survey concentrated on three key areas:
- Home & Community Safety
- Natural-Disaster Risk
- Financial Safety
Their data set ranges from assaults per capita to unemployment rate to road quality.
Virginia Beach was just recently named the No. 1 safest metro city in the country by another company that does similar surveys.
