PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Authorities across Hampton Roads are investigating after a violent weekend left four people killed and several others injured.
Between late Friday night, Dec. 28, and Sunday, Dec. 30, police responded to seven separate shooting incidents. The four fatalities happened in three shootings on Sunday.
One man was killed and another was taken to the hospital with minor injuries following a shooting on Ridgeway Avenue Sunday night in Hampton.

Officers have classified that case as a homicide.
A triple shooting at the Carriage House Apartments in Virginia Beach on Sunday night left two people dead and and a third person seriously injured.
Police in York County found a 20-year-old man shot to death inside of a home on Wilkins Drive. That case was also classified as a homicide.
Neighbors told 10 On Your Side an incident like this hits so close to home that it leaves them with more questions than comfort.
“It’s sad, it’s everywhere. It used to be you hear about it in the city, but now it’s in every neighborhood, actually,” said Willie Stephens.
Four other shootings left a handful of people injured over the weekend.
A person shot on Tidewater Drive in Norfolk on Sunday night drove himself to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, police say. That person’s condition is unknown.
Portsmouth police say one person is in serious condition after they showed up at Maryview Medical Center with a gunshot wound. The shooting reportedly happened at the corner of Chestnut and Randolph streets.
Virginia State Police say they’re investigating following a report that a car full of children was hit by gunfire on Interstate 64.
The driver of 2014 Nissan Armada told troopers he was merging onto the highway from Armistead Avenue in Hampton around 1 a..m. Saturday when he heard gun shots coming from outside his car.
State police said the driver reported hearing glass shattering and then realized a bullet grazed his leg. Five other people in the car — including four kids — were not hurt.
In Newport News, a man was shot in the leg during a robbery Friday night near 34th Street and Roanoke Avenue. Paramedics took him to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
