VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach woman who pleaded guilty to assaulting a family member back in November had the rest of her 12-month sentence suspended on Monday.
Shatoine Gray was sentenced to 12 months with all but time served suspended, conditioned on two years of good behavior. This comes after witnesses failed to appear in court and/or cooperate, according to the Commonwealth’s Attorney.
Back in November, witnesses said Gray chased the victim while carrying a pack of diapers. According to a search warrant, the witness said the victim had several stab wounds and was bleeding. At the time, the witness wouldn’t go into detail with investigators, according to the warrant.
The same day she was taken into custody, detectives say they also found a marijuana grow operation in her Caribe Place home.
Gray has a preliminary hearing on the possession of marijuana with intent to distribute charge on August 10.
