VB Sheriff’s Office puts causes front-and-center in lip sync video

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office decided to break a trend in its entry in the #LipSyncChallenge.

Rather than challenge another department, the sheriff’s office is encouraging the community to support a pair of causes: Special Olympics Virginia and Law Enforcement.

Departments across the country have been challenging each other for months. Most of the departments in Hampton Roads have released a lip sync video in that time.

Members of Special Olympics Virginia make appearances in the video — with each person showing what they would like to see happen “One Day.” This is set to the song of the same title by Matisyahu.

The last half of the video features deputies getting their groove on to “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” by C+C Music Factory.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office encouraged people to donate money to the causes. Nearly $600 had been raised through Friday morning.
