VB schools maintenance worker pleads guilty to child porn charge

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A maintenance worker for Virginia Beach Public schools has pleaded guilty to a federal child pornography charge.

Robert Cox was accused of using social media to send and receive sexually explicit messages with underage girls.

According to court documents, Cox admitted in an interview with police to posing as a younger man on social media to communicate with underage girls and older women.

In a plea agreement, Cox admitted guilty for the charge of attempted access with intent to view images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The maximum penalty for the charge is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Cox is scheduled to be sentenced in December.
