VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach man Don Weis is hoping to locate a person he’s never met.

About a week and a half ago, he was driving east on Laskin Road toward Birdneck Road, when he noticed something happening in the westbound lanes.

A driver left something on top of their car.

“When it came out of Cardinal Drive and turned on to Laskin toward Hilltop, this backpack fell off of the roof or the back of the car and landed in the middle of the street,” said Weis.

Weis tried to alert the driver.

“I flashed my lights, beeped the horn, I was headed in the other direction, so if she looked in the rear view mirror she wouldn’t have noticed,” he said.

Weis says he brought the backpack home, and realized there were lots of important items inside.

“There’s an iPad that has a crack in the screen, but it works, it’s password protected,” he said.

There was also a laptop that seemed to have some damage from hitting the road.

“It looks like a young person’s just by the stickers on it, and little game patches and also a jewelry tree with a citizenship award on it,” said Weis.

He also put a sign up in the intersection where it happened.

He’s hoping if he continues to spread the word, he’ll find the rightful owner.

If you think the backpack is yours, you can contact WAVY-TV reporter Deanna Bettineschi, who can put you in touch with Mr. Weis.
