CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A vacant townhouse was damaged Friday afternoon after the second floor caught fire, officials say.

Crews with the Chesapeake Fire Department were called to Janice Lynn Court in the Deep Creek section of the city just after 9 a.m. Four minutes later, they found smoke coming from the two-story home.

Officials said firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to other units. The fire was marked under control just after 9:20 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
