Va. Beach Officer dies from heart attack

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Police say one of their own passed away Saturday morning after heaving a heart attack while on duty Friday night. 

Master Police Officer Kelvin Bailey was working the in the Centerville Turnpike area when he suddenly went into cardiac arrest, according to Virginia Beach Police. He was transported to the the hospital and passed away shortly after. 

Bailey was said to be well-respected among the Virginia Beach Police Department, and is described as a “big teddy bear”.

Many residents and friends of Officer Bailey reacted tot he news of his death.

“I kinda grabbed my heart and said omg omg, my husbands like what’s wrong and I’m like my police officer at bingo that gives me hugs he had a heart attack and passed away,” said Carla Rossetti who met him at Bingo.

Annie Torres said he made a big impact on people’s lives

“He was just the person who comes around and says how you doing, how was your day, good luck I hope you win,” said Torres.

Bailey had been serving Hampton Roads with “a bright smile and a big heart” for 30 years.
