Va. Beach family dog saved by firefighters after house fire

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Saturday evening, firefighters responded to the 5100 block of Condor Street for a multi-family home that caught fire.

Around 5:51 p.m., calls started coming into dispatch reporting the smoke and flames. Crews arrived three minutes later and located Captain, a family dog, that needed medical assistance. They removed the him from the home and administered oxygen. The dog was treated and reunited with the owners.

In a statement, the dogs owner Jammie T. says, “Captain is still receiving fluids at Acredale Animal Hospital- his normal vet office. He has done well and and there are no expected health concerns… We are so appreciative of the VBFD.”

One person was treated for minor injuries on the scene. No firefighters were injured. 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
