VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Two of the four applicants for the vacant, Rose Hall District seat have been chosen by the Virginia Beach City Council to move on to the interview stage.

Those two individuals are Michael Berlucchi, Community Engagement Manager at the Chrysler Museum of Art, and Seko B. E. Varner, One-Stop Operator Coordinator at Tidewater Community College, according to the council’s website

The City Council says both candidates were the most, highly-qualified of the four applicants. They plan to release their application packages to the public for review on Wednesday.

Citizens will have the opportunity to provide feedback during the City Council meeting on April 30. The following week, the council will interview the candidates and make a final decision.

Shannon Kane resigned from the Rose Hall District seat last month after she says her family purchased a new home outside of the district. Her last day on the council was April 6.

On Tuesday, Guy Tower was appointed to the vacant Beach District seat by the City Council.

Tower and the candidate chosen for the Rose Hall District on May 7 will hold the positions until a special election on the first Tuesday in November.
