CHARLOTTESVILLE (WAVY) – As Virginia wrapped up Spring practice, head coach Bronco Mendenhall says he has found his starting quarterback heading into Summer workouts and Fall camp.
Bryce Perkins, a junior transfer from Arizona Western Community College, has shown the ability to move the Cavaliers’ offense, both with his arm and his legs, and has looked impressive throughout Spring.
“He (Perkins) has moved the team most effectively, and I think not only does he have the coach’s trust but he has the team’s trust,” said Mendenhall, who’s team will look to replace the graduated Kurt Benkert.
“He’s a quick learner, a natural leader, and just a productive and dynamic athlete. “
Mendenhall added that the starting job is Perkins’ to lose.
