NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower has completed its flight deck certifications.
The Nimitz-Class aircraft carrier returned to Naval Station Norfolk over the weekend.

The certification ensures the ship’s flight deck and the sailors who conduct flight operations are capable of safely launching and recovering aircraft.
Navy officials say the certification is a major milestone on the ship’s way to becoming fully mission ready.
