NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Warships from the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group participated in live fire exercises last week.
U.S. Navy officials said the strike group conducted a proficient Live Fire With a Purpose (LFWAP) exercise in the Atlantic Ocean on Nov. 19. The exercise is designed to increase the fleet’s tactical proficiency.
Ships taking part in the exercise included the USS Leyte Gulf, USS Bainbridge, USS Mason and USS Nitze.
Officials said these exercises enable crews to enhance their tactics, techniques, and procedures.
“The benefits will serve this crew well during Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) and deployment,” said Cmdr. Patrick Murphy, commanding officer of USS Bainbridge.
