SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A two-vehicle crash in Suffolk Monday morning caused a fuel spill that closed a roadway in both directions.

City officials said the crash happened on Carolina Road at Cypress Chapel Road around 7:40 a.m.

Officials said the driver of one of the vehicles was evaluated at the scene, but no one was taken to the hospital.

A resulting fuel spill prompted officials to close Carolina Road for some time, and set up detours.

Officials said northbound traffic is still being detoured and rerouted to Cypress Chapel Road. That side of the road is expected remain closed for an hour while the spill is cleaned up.

The cause the crash is under investigation.
