Two-vehicle crash causes closure at Norfolk intersection

News

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A two-vehicle crash caused an intersection in Norfolk to be closed for more than an hour Wednesday morning.

Norfolk dispatchers say they received a call about a crash at E. Virginia Beach Boulevard and Jett Street just after 7:30 a.m. The crash reportedly happened in the eastbound lanes.

Norfolk police spokesman Daniel Hudson said officers responded to the crash at E. Virginia Beach Boulevard and Jett Street around 7:30 a.m.

A preliminary investigation found a driver ran a red light at the intersection due to the sun’s glare, Hudson said. This led to the driver crashing into a work truck that was turning onto the boulevard from Jett Street.

Hudson said the intersection was closed for an hour and a half following the crash.

The driver of the truck was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle refused treatment at the scene.

Hudson said no summonses for charges were issued.
