Two teenagers injured in Norfolk shooting; 14-year-old arrested


NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police have arrested a 14-year-old male in connection to a shooting that sent two other teens to the hospital off Cary Ave. Wednesday afternoon.

Officers responded to a gunshot disturbance around 2 p.m. Two 16-year-old’s were found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both teens were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment, are are expected to be OK.

10 On Your Side spoke with a witness off camera, who says he was outside with his kids when someone started shooting. He says he covered his kids until the gunfire stopped.

When he got up, he says he saw a teen on a bike that was shot and needed help.

He says he ran over, took off his undershirt, and tied it around the teen he says was shot in the arm and chest.

Hours after the shooting, detectives did come back to the scene looking in wooded areas and around a house nearby.

Following an investigation, police charged the 14-year-old with two counts of malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm, possession of a firearm by juvenile, burglary, and grand larceny.
