PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Two people were medevaced off a cruise ship early Friday morning.
Watchstanders at the 5th District in Portsmouth were contacted by the crew of the cruise ship Anthem of the Seas late Thursday morning for a 18-year-old suffering symptoms of a heart attack.
The Anthem of the Seas contacted the Coast Guard again Thursday evening to request the medevac of an additional passenger, an 82-year-old male, who was also suffering symptoms of a heart attack.
Air Station Elizabeth City launched a helicopter crew and a Hercules airplane crew Friday morning to medevac the two men.
The two men were then transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
