Two I-64 shootings in Norfolk on Saturday considered unrelated, State Police say

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police say they’re investigating two separate shootings that happened Saturday on I-64 in Norfolk.

Police announced the shootings in a press release sent out Tuesday night, and added the two appear to be unrelated.

The first happened around 2:30 a.m. on westbound I-64 in the area of the Granby Street exit, in which a black 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was hit by several bullets. Troopers say one of the victims, a woman, was hit in the shoulder. She was treated at a hospital and released.

WAVY reports.

There’s no suspect or vehicle description at this time, troopers say.

However the other shooting, which happened around 4 p.m. Saturday, was committed by someone in a red or maroon early 2000s Chrysler Sebring convertible with a black top, police say.

WAVY reports.

A blue 2003 Nissan Sentra was hit by a single bullet, but neither or the car’s two occupants were injured. This also happened on I-64 westbound, but in the area near Willoughby Spit and the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel.

Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call State Police at 757-424-6800.
