HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police are investigating two separate shootings they say happened on Interstate 64 in Hampton early Monday morning.
Troopers say both happened around 1:45 a.m. in the area of Hampton Roads Center Parkway and Mercury Boulevard, when bullets hit two different vehicles.
The first involved a male victim who said he was driving home on the interstate when he was shot. Troopers say he didn’t notice his injury until he got home, and went to the hospital for treatment of the non life-threatening wound.
According to a state police spokesman, another vehicle carrying five people, including two juveniles, was traveling eastbound on I-64 when itwas hit multiple times by gunfire. No one inside was struck by the gunfire, but one passenger was treated for minor injuries after being struck by glass.
Investigators shut down two lanes of traffic on I-64 and could be seen looking for evidence on the side of the road following the shootings.
As of Monday afternoon, troopers had not identified a suspect(s) in the case, but asked anyone with information on the shooting to contact state police at 757-424-6800, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
